Jute, Juco and Cotton

GoJute is an award-winning supplier and manufacturer of Jute, Cotton and Juco bags with years of experience within the industry. We quite often get asked, ‘What is the difference between Jute, Juco and Cotton?’. The short guide below will help explain the differences and aid you in making the correct choice in deciding what bag suits you best.

Jute is a natural fibre and one of the strongest around. Traditionally farmed, it is grown in similar conditions to organic farming. The jute plant is rotated, while NO pesticides or fertilisers are used in the growing process and nothing is Genetically Modified.

Jute is mainly grown in the Bengal area of India and grows fully in 4-6 months.

Jute is the second most important vegetable fibre after cotton, not only for cultivation but also for various uses.

Jute is very versatile because all of the plant is utilised. The fibres are used to make: bags, fabrics, twine/rope, paper, shoes and carpet backing. With the introduction of the plastic bag tax, sustainable, reusable and environmentally friendly ‘Bags for Life’ are in demand.

At GoJute we specialise in jute. We have a large selection of stock products available, plain or printed/embroidered in-house, as well as a custom ‘Build-a-Bag’ service.

Cotton is a natural fibre that grows on the seed of the cotton plant. It is the world’s most produced natural fibre and is fast becoming a very popular material for bag production.

Cotton is versatile and once spun, this fibre creates a tightly woven, lightweight, breathable texture that looks stunning. In addition, in a heavier weight cotton is extremely durable.

When it comes to printing, the tight weave of a cotton or cotton canvas bag allows for alot more detail to be applied.

As well as stock cotton products, we also create completely bespoke items too.

Juco is a smart, versatile and increasingly popular new ecological fabric.

The fine blend of both jute and cotton give juco an edge on both materials, by taking the most beneficial properties of each it offers an ecological alternative to cotton and canvas bags.

Juco brings together the tighter weave of a cotton bag and the hard-wearing durability found in traditional jute bags. The result is smooth to the touch and can take much more detail from a printing perspective. Juco also has a longer lifespan and most importantly, is environmentally-friendly.

We consider our high quality juco bag range to be the most natural, ecologically-sustainable way to address the ‘single-use carrier bag problem’.
