Parent Teacher Associations around the UK are using branded bags as a fantastic fundraising opportunity!

School Fundraising Ideas

Inventing new and innovative school fundraising ideas can be difficult. You want a great idea but it seems everything has been done before and the money raised is in such small amounts compared to the efforts that go into it.

Or perhaps you feel that you don’t have the time, resources and support from your Parent Teacher Association to put something really good together?

Within the team at GoJute we have children of all ages, so believe us, we understand the challenges you face in creating plausible school fundraising ideas.

We’re here to help!

Creating a school jute bag is a tried and tested way of bringing in money for any organisation. In particular, school jute bags can be found on the shoulders of many parents and former pupils.

The Basic Idea

Design:  School supplies images, designs or text to us, or we can create it for you. Alternatively you could run a design competition with the pupils to create even more interest in the bag. The best designs use the whole space of the bag using our edge-to-edge printing service.

Colour & Style: From experience we have found that a selection of colours work well and gives a variety to your customers. Think about how the bags are going to be used and therefore the size they’ll need to be. Our standard jute bag GJ030 is a great all-rounder bag, comfortably carrying everything from books to toys and shopping, making it incredibly useful. However, the smaller ‘lunch’ bags are also very sell-able and use-able, something like the small jute bag GJ020 is perfect!

Quantity: An agreed quantity is then manufactured, printed and delivered. It’s probably best to contact us to discuss the quantity you’ll need as this obviously depends on the size of your school, but also your budget. Our overseas service is the most cost-effective way to order but you’ll need a bit of extra time for this as the lead-time is generally 8-12 weeks; well worth the wait though as you can design a custom bag that’s just right for your school or college.

Costs: Calculate how many you expect to sell to parents of pupils and your local community and deduct your costs. Our customers have sold the bags for £4-£8 each. You do the math!

Sponsorship: Many education providers we work with arrange sponsorship from local businesses.

This is a brilliant way to ensure the cost of the bags is covered. For example, on the Standard jute bags GJ030, there is ample room for 10 businesses to advertise their logo and contact details. Charge anything from £50-£100 per space and make £500-£1000 before you’ve sold a single bag.

This is a win-win situation for both the business and your school, as there are few advertising platforms out there with such longevity. What better way to promote your school and /or business in the local community than being carried by many on your local high street, in the supermarket or out and about at the park.

How has this worked for other schools?  How much money has been raised? Read here to find out.

Branded bags are the fool-proof way to spread awareness time and time again via pupils, students, family and friends of the school.

From lecture/conference folders, drawstring PE bags, school lunch bags or book bags, jute and cotton bags can work towards achieving your environmental goals too. Jute is 100% biodegradable, reducing waste and encouraging sustainability.

Contact your local estate agent for sponsorship

For any agent, an exciting element is being considered a helpful part of the community. Often sponsoring a school and/or community event is great for their profile and marketing exposure. The general feedback we get is that when the bags are passing the estate agents window on a daily basis “It’s exciting to see exactly how much our advertising gets about!” Webbers Estate Agent
