Elephants surrounded by plastic pollution

1. Rub-a-dub-dub

shampoo bars

Just a shampoo in a bar – just like soap with no waste, no plastic. Along with this, shampoo bars can last three times longer than shampoo in a bottle. They also contain all-natural ingredients. Easier to pack when you go on holiday and won’t leak… can you really go wrong?

2. Wake up and smell the coffee

Reusable Coffee Cup

There is a problem inside your coffee cup and I’m not talking about when you order a flat white and they give you a latte instead. I’m talking about the plastic film which lines the cup and how very few of these coffee cups can be recycled. However, there is something you can do to solve this problem and that is to get yourself a reusable coffee cup.

3. It’s the final straw

Steel Straws

We must end the hurt and suffering for this little turtle with the straw up his nose. With the increase in climate change and the growing concern for the harmful effects of plastic it is time that we all switch to healthier and more environmentally friendly alternatives such as these copper straws. When products such as BPA (a chemical additive) is found in plastic which can lead to heart disease and diabetes… let’s get rid of this for the next generation.

4. Go nuts when it comes to the laundry!

Soap Nuts

Some of you may already use an eco-friendly laundry detergent but what do you do with the plastic bottle? Now there are some supermarkets which let you refill with your cleaning liquids. However, to save you lugging all those bottles home why not try soap nuts? These are little dried fruit shells which contain 100 percent natural soap. According to the makers of soap nuts they can be used with all fabrics and at temperatures between 30 and 90 degrees. All you need to do is bung them in a sock, tie it up and throw it in with the rest of your dirty clothes.

5. Now that’s a wrap!

Beeswax Wraps

So how does that sandwich taste that’s been wrapped in crude oil? Yep, that’s cling film. “Hmm, how am I going to keep my beloved sandwich fresh?” I hear you ask. Beeswax food wraps is how. The wraps are reusable, biodegradable and come in such cute variety of patterns – how can you say no to styling-up your lunch box? The only thing is when you go to wash it, use cold water as the hot water will melt the beeswax ????

Our task here at GoJute is to help to reduce the amount of plastic in this world and create a more sustainable and healthier environment to live in so it is great to see fellow companies doing the same.
