PRESS RELEASE:
This week the winners of last term’s Go Jute Bag Design competition – to design the front and back of a reusable Jute Bag – were announced.
There were some brilliant designs depicting school colours, aspirational words and underwater themes, with strong messages showing real understanding of why the 5p tax now exists. Congratulations to Ella, Maddy and Emily from Year 7, who have been chosen to feature on the front of the bag, and Cali, Beth and Maisy from Year 8, who created the design chosen for the back. After a discussion with Miss Gambier and Go Jute, the students have a clear idea of how the designs are to be reworked to feature on a Go Jute Bag. Miss Gambier told them: “Your concept shows the important environmental side and the designs themselves are stunning; Go Jute are really, really impressed. They loved the story of what harm plastic bags can do to the environment. The next step is a meeting to finalise the designs, before they go into production in India. All students and staff at Penrice will be given the final product, which will be with us in the New Year. Well done to everyone who entered.
